How to Use the Agentic Editor in PowerDirector
Type what you want in plain words, and let the AI agent generate a clip or make the edit on your own footage.

PowerDirector's Agentic Editor is a chat where you say what you want and an AI agent does the work. Ask for a five-second clip of a cat by a rainy window and it generates one. Attach your own footage, ask for it brighter, and it puts the clip on your timeline with the light already raised.
- In PowerDirector, click Agentic Editor in the left panel.
- Type what you want in the box at the bottom, then click the blue button in its corner.
- When the agent asks about credits, click Generate. The clip appears in the chat.
- To edit your own footage, click + and attach the clip.
- Describe the change, send it, and use the button the agent offers to fine-tune it.
Steps to Use the Agentic Editor
Step 1: Open the Agentic Editor
Open PowerDirector and click Agentic Editor in the left panel, just under Home. The agent opens with a greeting and three starting points: Enhance my video quality, Generate image or video with AI, and Turn my footage into a 30 seconds story-driven video.
Those are shortcuts. You can skip them and type your own request, which is what this guide does.
Step 2: Describe the Video You Want
Click into the box at the bottom and write the request the way you would say it. Give the agent the length and shape first, then the picture: we typed Generate a 5 seconds, 16:9 video. A cat sitting by a rainy window, cozy atmosphere, soft lighting, realistic.
Click the blue button in the bottom-right corner of the box to send it.
Step 3: Confirm the Credits and Generate
The agent does not spend anything on its own. Before it generates, it tells you the job will deduct credits and asks whether to continue. The Generate button shows how many credits it will use; click it to go ahead, or Cancel to stop.
A progress count runs while it works. The finished clip lands in the chat with its length in the corner, above a one-line summary of what the agent made. Click it to play.
Step 4: Attach Your Own Clip
The agent edits footage you already have, too. Click + at the left of the box and choose a clip. It appears beside the button labeled @video 1, and the counter under + reads 1/50.
That label is how you point at it. With more than one file attached, type @ in your request to say which one you mean.
Step 5: Ask for the Change in Plain Words
Type the change and send it. We asked for Light Up the video. The agent added the clip to the timeline, raised its brightness, and said so in the chat.
Under its reply is a button for the setting it touched, here Open Light Adjustment. Click it to take over from the agent and fine-tune the result by hand.
The Result
The gray rooftop shot is now bright enough to see the dancer and the skyline clearly, and it is already on the timeline, so you can keep cutting from there. One sentence replaced a trip through the adjustment panels.

Generating does. Before it generates, the agent says the job will deduct credits and waits for you. The Generate button shows the amount, and Cancel stops without generating anything.
