How to Import Media in PowerDirector

PowerDirector gives you several ways to get your videos, photos and music into a project, and they all end in the same place: the My Media panel, ready to drag onto the timeline. Which one is worth using depends on how much you are bringing in. A handful of clips is a drag and drop; a whole shoot is a folder import that keeps your subfolders intact.
- In PowerDirector, open the Media tab and go to My Media.
- Click Import, then choose Import Media Files or Import a Media Folder.
- Pick your files, and they appear in My Media, ready to drag onto the timeline.
Ways to Import Media
You can import media four ways: from the My Media panel, the Import menu, a whole folder at once, or by dragging files straight in.

Import from the My Media Panel
On the Media tab, open My Media. Click the folder icon in the middle of the empty panel to open your computer's file explorer, then select one or more files to bring in.
Use the Import Menu
Click the Import dropdown at the top left. You can Import Media Files to add individual files, or Import a Media Folder to bring in a whole folder at once.
Import a Whole Folder (With Subfolders)
When you import a folder, tick Include subfolders to bring in everything inside it too. PowerDirector keeps the original folder structure, so your media stays organized exactly as it was on your computer.
Drag and Drop, and Other Shortcuts
The quickest way is to drag files straight from your computer into the panel. Once you've imported before, you can also double-click an empty area to open the file explorer, right-click to pick an import method, or use File on the menu bar.
