How to Use AI Image Generator in PowerDirector
Describe a picture, pick its shape, and drop the result straight into your project.

Sometimes the shot you need does not exist and cannot be filmed. PowerDirector's AI Image Generator takes a sentence describing the picture and returns several versions of it, sized to whatever your project needs, and the one you keep goes straight into the library beside your footage.
- In PowerDirector, open the GenAI menu and choose Text to Image: Text Prompt under Image.
- Type what you want into Describe what images you want to generate.
- Pick an aspect ratio, and how many images to make.
- Click Generate, then Add to Library to keep the one you want.

Step 1: Open Text to Image
Open the GenAI menu. Its entries are grouped by what they produce, and image tools sit at the bottom under Image. Choose Text to Image: Text Prompt.
The entry below it, Text to Image: Text + Face, is the version that also takes a face to work from. This article covers the plain prompt.
Step 2: Describe the Image
The Text Prompt window opens with the description box in the middle of the left panel. Its own example sets the expectation: subject, style, background. That is the shape of a prompt that works, rather than a single noun.
There is room for 8,000 characters, so there is no reason to be brief. Inspiration underneath opens a set of ready-made prompts if you would rather start from one.
Step 3: Set the Shape and How Many
Select the aspect ratio offers 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9 and 9:16. Pick the one your project is in rather than cropping later, because a generated image has no spare edges to crop into.
The dropdown at the bottom left sets how many versions come back at once. More versions of one prompt is usually a better use of a run than one version of a prompt you have not tested.
Step 4: Generate and Keep One
Generate fills the right side with your versions, one large and the rest as thumbnails underneath. Click through them before deciding.
Add to Library puts the selected image into your media library, ready to drag onto the timeline. Turn Into Video hands it to the image-to-video tool instead, so a still you just made can start moving without leaving the app.
If none of them are right, the button you clicked to generate now reads Re-generate, which runs the same prompt again for a different set.

Follow the shape of the window's own example: what the subject is, what style it should be in, and what the background should do. A single noun leaves every one of those decisions to the generator.
Not without cropping into the picture, which loses part of it. The ratio is set before you generate, so pick the one your project uses.
Add to Library puts it in your media library alongside your footage, so you drag it onto the timeline the same way you would any other file.
