PhotoDirector's Wire Removal takes power lines out of a sky. Paint over each wire with the brush, click Remove, and the sky behind is filled back in. Our street portrait had several lines cutting across the top of the frame and more strung between the houses; one pass cleared all of them and left the clouds, roofs and utility poles as they were.

In Guided & GenAI, click Edit, choose Wire Removal, and import a photo.
On the Manual tab, paint over each wire with the Brush.
Click Remove.

Steps to Use Wire Removal

Step 1: Open Wire Removal and Import a Photo

From the PhotoDirector launcher, choose Guided & GenAI.

Click Edit in the rail on the left. Wire Removal sits under Object Removal, just below Auto/Manual Removal. Drag your photo onto the canvas, or click Import Photo.

Step 2: Paint Over the Wires

The panel opens on the Manual tab with the Brush selected. (Line drawer, the other tab, is a second way in; this guide uses Manual.) Drag along each wire, and what you paint shows in pink.

Set the size under Brush settings so the stroke is a little wider than the wire; 20 covered ours. Follow the wire all the way to the edge of the frame, since an unpainted stub stays behind. The Eraser takes back paint that strayed onto something you want to keep.

Step 3: Click Remove

Click Remove. The pink strokes disappear along with the wires under them, and the sky is filled in to match what surrounds it. Remove and the Eraser gray out until you paint again, and Reset at the bottom of the panel is there if you want to start over.

The Result

The sky reads as one clean gradient with its clouds intact, and you have to look closely to find where the lines ran. The thinner wires between the houses went too, while the poles holding them stayed, because only what was painted is removed. Export at the top saves the photo.

FAQ About Wire Removal

1. What brush size should I use?

A little wider than the wire. At 20, the brush covered every line in our photo with room to spare. Use the slider under Brush settings to go smaller for thin cables.

3. Does it work on wires in front of buildings, not just sky?

In our photo, yes: the wires strung between the houses were removed along with the ones against the open sky. Open sky is the easiest case, since there is plenty of plain background to fill from.
